If the goal of one’s wedding is to spend a day, or a weekend, celebrating love and savoring laughter with those you are closest to (well, yeah; of course it is!), Sarah and Brian’s June wedding at Bourne Farm was a resounding success of epic proportions!
With 49 acres of rolling farmland dotted by ancient stone walls, kettle ponds, flowerbeds and towering trees, Bourne Farm is a Cape Cod wedding venue that is both a classic and unique. While many may automatically think of a Cape Cod destination wedding at a waterfront venue, the Cape’s history is also noteworthy – the Mayflower landed here first – and Bourne Farm celebrates this history beautifully. It is the epitome of laidback luxury, which was exactly what the couple was looking for.
This fun-loving couple’s weekend festivities started out with the rehearsal dinner, a clambake for the wedding party, family and close friends at Bourne Farm, followed by a welcome party with all of their guests invited for cocktails and dessert in the waterfront courtyard of the Sea Crest Beach Resort.
The next day, guests were free to explore the area, including the nearby towns of Falmouth and Woods Hole, as the couple prepared for their Big Day. Sarah and her maids spent the day primping and getting pampered (and drinking Champagne!), while Brian and the guys labored over corn hole and cold beers.
As the moment to say “I do” drew near, Sarah presented herself to her father, who was thoroughly awestruck by his daughter’s beauty. She then gathered with her maids for a photo op. The colors of Sarah’s bouquet perfectly complemented the women’s gowns, each of which was a reflection of their own signature style. At about the same time, Brian was making sure the “kids” were ready for their big moment.
With their four-legged fur babies in tow, Brian walked down a wooded path to meet his beloved. Such a gorgeous scene!
After months of planning, the Big Moment of the Big Day had arrived. It was time to get married. Rows of white garden chairs were arranged on a gentle slope overlooking a kettle pond. Huge floral arrangements in the same summery shades as Sarah’s bouquet created a striking backdrop for the ceremony.
A smiling Sarah was escorted down the aisle by her father, who was so obviously brimming with pride.
With the exchange of vows and the all-important “first kiss” completed in perfect fashion, it was official: Brian and Sarah were husband and wife. Let the party begin!
Mister and missus and their guests moved on to the terrace for the cocktail hour, where Brian and Sarah kicked things off in a fun-filled way: by throwing back a couple of shots. Love it!
Just before six, as the sun was starting to sink toward the horizon, the group made its way to a pristine white tent arranged on a sprawling green lawn. Inside was a mix of linen-clad round tables and glistening wood farmhouse tables topped with white runners. Fun florals, menu cards and linen napkins in punched-up shades of peach completed the summery look.
After enjoying their first dance together as husband wife (love, love, LOVE the look on Sarah’s face!), the couple snuck away for a few minutes with photographer Alex Paul, who captured them wandering through a field of wildflowers. For their “stealth” cake-cutting ceremony, they were joined by a young member of the party who was celebrating his birthday, making even this moment about family, friends and fun, which is just what a wedding should be.
