Nearly every wedding magazine or blog will caution you to be certain that your caterer is licensed and insured (both are absolute musts!), but the caterer will be a big part of your day and you may want to dig a little deeper. Consider asking:
How long have you been in business and do you devote time to research and education?
At The Casual Gourmet, we’ve been in the catering business since 1986 and it shows, in both the quality of our food and the level of our service. But that doesn’t mean we’re willing to operate on cruise control. Everyone – from Olive, our president, to Rick, our culinary-trained executive chef, to our experienced wedding coordinators and professional servers – continues to learn. By attending conferences, both regionally and nationally, to share ideas and recipes with likeminded caterers, we’re always to trying to get even better at what we do. Experience coupled with continuing education is a powerful combination.

How local are you?
If you’re planning a Cape Cod wedding, you want it to feel like, well, a Cape Cod wedding! The Casual Gourmet is a Cape-based caterer run by a team of actual Cape Codders and we are entrenched and active in our community. By supporting organizations such as the Cape Cod Commercial Fishing Alliance and Buy Fresh Buy Local Cape Cod, we’re able to ensure not only that we have the resources to serve the freshest food available, but also that the Cape continues to remain the beautiful and vibrant community which we (and you!) love. We also invest our time, energy and resources in supporting the region’s talented wedding industry by attending and lecturing at networking events and hosting #CCWeddings, an open-forum blog where area wedding pros share inspiration and ideas nearly every day.

How often have you worked at the venues we’re considering?
The Casual Gourmet has catered weddings at virtually every Cape Cod wedding venue. From waterfront venues such as Nauticus Marina, the Winslow Estate and the Chequessett Yacht & Country Club, to Heritage Museums & Gardens and Highfield Hall & Gardens, two historic Cape Cod venues where we’re honored to be the exclusive caterer, we know the capacities of each venue and what makes each one unique. We’ll sit down and discuss the details of your day with you and then make recommendations on which venues we think will be the perfect fit for your perfect day.
