While many of the grand summer homes built on Cape Cod in the late 1800s and early 1900s were done in the classic Shingle Style so often found in seaside summer resorts, there are a few exceptions, one of which is the Winslow Estate in South Orleans. With its Mediterranean design and sprawling green lawns, this waterfront wedding venue on Cape Cod is absolutely lovely, as was the weather when Krista and Scott were married there in June.
The couple chose the venue not only because of its elegant aesthetics and location – it sits on a private three-acre peninsula that juts out into Pleasant Bay – but because of its size. With 17 rooms, nine of which are bedrooms, it was the perfect place for their destination wedding on Cape Cod. And with such a spacious lawn, there was enough room not only for a tent, but also to hold their ceremony.
Everything about Krista and Scott’s wedding day celebrated the gorgeous seaside location. From the bespoke invitation suite adorned with a monogram of the couple’s interwoven initials, to the maids’ gowns in hydrangea blue and “beach glass” orbs that were hand painted with table numbers, the couple’s “Big Day” celebrated Cape Cod beach weddings in the very best way.
After a relaxing morning with her maids that included hair, makeup and a bit of bubbly, Krista slipped into a sleek silk gown with a dramatic bow accent on the back. A cathedral-length veil edged in the same silk completed her stunning look.
A private platform at the water’s edge proved the perfect place for Scott to get his “first look” of his gorgeous bride.
As guests began to gather on the lawn above, Scott and Krista enjoyed a few minutes on the estate’s private beach as photographer Alex Gordias snapped a handful of relaxed shots.
The big moment had arrived.
The beautiful bride was escorted down the aisle by her very proud father with more than 100 loved ones looking on. A sparkling Pleasant Bay served as a striking backdrop.
With their “I dos” complete, the newlyweds took a few minutes for portraits as guests began to gather under the tent, where waiters moved about with trays of Palomas, the couple’s signature cocktail, Prosecco and hors d’oeuvres.
Inside the tent were a mix of linen-clad round tables and rustic farmhouse tables. Charming details and lush floral arrangements were everywhere!
Once their guests were seated, the newlyweds were announced into their reception, where they took to the dance floor for their first dance. Could they be any cuter?
After heartfelt speeches and toasts, dinner was served, after which Krista and Scott cut their petite cake. A buffet of mini pastries and chocolate-covered strawberries was arranged just as the evening’s dancing began.
With the sun slipping low on the horizon, Krista and Scott snuck away from their reception for another private moment on the estate’s dock. Most romantic photos ever!
It was time to dance the night away!
