With a sand-in-the-toes ceremony overlooking Cape Cod Bay and the Provincetown skyline, a nautical navy-and-white color scheme, hydrangea-bedecked tables, and a beloved golden retriever serving as best man, Jessea and Pete hit all the right notes for their casual Cape Cod beach wedding.
The couple’s family and friends gathered at Kalmar Village, a waterfront Cape Cod wedding venue and resort in North Truro, on a beautiful September Saturday. After Jessea and her maids got ready in one of the oceanfront cottages at Kalmar, Jessea was escorted by her father as she walked downed the aisle – actually, it was a boardwalk; even better – wearing a sleeveless sheath-style wedding dress with a lace overlay.
The ceremony site, on the private beach at the resort, had been arranged with rows of white wooden chairs. A pair of surf boards marked the “bride’s side” and the “groom’s side.” Gathered around an arbor, under which the couple exchanged vows, were bright blue pots filled with climbing hibiscus in full bloom.
After saying their “I dos,” Jessea and Pete took a few minutes with their photographer, Kelly Cronin, to pose for informal portraits on the beach. With a barefoot bride and groom, one could hardly call these fun photos “formal” portraits!
The reception was held under a tent that had been set up on the resort’s sprawling green lawn. Beach-chic details and personal touches were everywhere!
Attached to each navy blue place card was a mini starfish. Rather than being numbered, each table was named for a favorite beach. Emblazoned with lobsters, the cocktail napkins included a beloved quote from a vintage episode of Friends.
A mix of round tables and long, Tuscan-style tables were arranged under the tent. Each was topped with white linens and a navy runner, and fresh greens and white hydrangeas. Classic onion lanterns, another nautical touch, would cast a soft glow over the party once the sun went down.
Rather than a traditional wedding cake, the couple opted for petite cake, for the traditional cutting, and cupcakes. A silhouette of a dancing Pete and Jessea, and the dog (naturally!), was yet another personal element for the fun-loving duo.
After having the pleasure of working with Pete and Jessea, we know they’ll be happily dancing together for a lifetime!
