Local businesswoman Olive Chase, founder and owner of The Casual Gourmet in Centerville, the Cape Cod Mall and the Cape Cod Hospital lobby, recently donated $3,000 to Cape Cod Hospital to benefit the Emergency Center. The money was raised during a month-long fund-raiser in August at all three locations to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of The Casual Gourmet.

“Instead of throwing ourselves a party, we decided to raise some money for the expansion of the emergency department – not just to raise funds, but to raise awareness of this important community asset and the need to keep it vibrant and healthy,” Olive said.

During the fund-raiser, raffle tickets were sold at The Casual Gourmet’s three locations, and at the hospital gift shop. Olive and her husband, David, matched the tickets sold, for a total donation of $3,000. The grand prize winner of a $250 gift certificate to The Casual Gourmet was Marion Kane of Chatham. In addition, there were five weekly winners of $25 gift certificates.

“We are very grateful to Olive and David for choosing to celebrate The Casual Gourmet’s milestone with a donation to the Cape Cod Hospital Emergency Center,” said Chris O’Connor, Vice President of Development for Cape Cod Healthcare. “Their generosity will benefit the hospital, the lives of their neighbors and those who visit Cape Cod.”

Olive founded The Casual Gourmet in the Centerville Shopping Center in 1986. The coffee shop in the hospital was opened in 1999. They also have a location in the food court at the Cape Cod Mall.

“We have enjoyed growing our business and are grateful for the opportunity to serve the Cape community,” Olive said. “The Cape Cod Hospital emergency department has been there for us every step of the way. This was the perfect way for us to celebrate our silver anniversary.”
