With a bride who hailed from Columbia, and groom of Irish-American descent, this Cape Cod wedding was all about blending family traditions…beautifully. And everything about Carolina and Brian big day was simply spectacular, including the sunny September weather.
After exchanging vows at Our Lady of Assumption, a church in the village of Osterville, the very-new newlyweds snuck away with their wedding party to nearby Dowses Beach where photographers Joe and Kristen Navas, of Organic Wedding Photography, captured a few informal portraits.
While there, the couple took a few minutes for a private stroll, savoring the fact that, after months of planning their wedding, they were now “Mr. & Mrs.”
The reception was held at Nauticus Marina, a stunning waterfront Cape Cod wedding venue on the outskirts of Osterville. A spacious white tent, roomy enough to accommodate nearly 200 guests, was set on the marina’s lawn, which has epic views of the boat-filled docks and North Bay. Nautical flags snapping in the ocean breeze above served as a subtle reminder that this was very much a Cape Cod wedding.
A mix of rustic, wooden farmhouse tables and linen-clad round tables beautifully complemented the venue’s relaxed-yet-elegant feel. The tables were topped with floral arrangements of white dahlias and roses in a soft peach hue that were created by Fancy Flowers by Meredith.
At each place setting was a petite wooden barrel, a traditional Columbian wedding favor that had been painted and personalized with the bride and groom’s names. Another charming touch, one which blended the couple’s heritages, was in the toasts. The groom’s family had a tradition of toasting weddings with Irish whiskey, so the bride’s family brought brightly colored shot glasses, a Columbian tradition, with them when they traveled to the United States.
As the sun began to set, and the light softened, Carolina and Brian snuck away from their reception for photos along the docks. Beautiful!
With the evening drawing to a close, multi-colored masks and beads were brought out. As the D.J. played traditional Columbian music, guests danced the night away clad in the masks and beads. A very good time was had by all.
