Both Angela and Drew are “huge nature lovers” according to the recent bride; he works in conservation and she’s a veterinarian. They knew wanted to be married outside because “…being outdoors IS our church,” says Angela. “Heritage was where Drew took me on our second date so it was a no-brainer for us to make this sacred vow to each other at Heritage!”
In June of 2015, Angela and Drew exchanged their vows at Heritage Museums & Gardens, a Cape Cod Wedding venue in Sandwich that was the ‘natural’ choice for the couple. Sparks Fly Photography captured all the love and fun of the day.
After having lived on Cape Cod, the couple also knew that they wanted to serve their guests fresh Cape seafood. They opted for a menu of a raw bar for the cocktail hour and a traditional clambake for dinner. The locally-sourced seafood included clams and oysters for the raw bar, and native lobsters paired with steamed clams and mussels for dinner.
Angela’s love of nature runs so deeply that she grew all of the flowers for their wedding. “I grew my own flowers for all parts of the wedding right down to the edible flowers that were served with each plated piece of cake,” she says. “I was pretty picky about the involvement with flowers and The Casual Gourmet made it all happen. I also provided flowers for the cake to be decorated with, and the cake topper, and it was BEAUTIFUL.”
Because Angela’s grandmother couldn’t “physically be there,” says Angela, she wrapped her bridal bouquet in her grandmother’s handkerchief. “It was my way of having her there with me for all the important parts of the day.” Angela’s bouquet was misplaced at some point during their fun-filled wedding reception, but luckily it was found by one of The Casual Gourmet’s team and kept safe until the newlyweds returned from their honeymoon. “It was awesome to know my grandmother’s handkerchief was safe!” says Angela.
Angela and Drew each had favorite moments of the day. One of Angela’s was “Seeing my handsome husband-to-be standing at the most gorgeous altar and having perfectly attuned tunnel vision as I walked down the aisle.” And for Drew? He calls out “…driving to Heritage in our (borrowed) vintage, red 1955 Ford pickup truck… and then seeing all of the other vintage cars there.”
