When a couple has a DJ booth custom made for their wedding reception, the logical assumption is that the bride and groom want to boogie all night long on their big day. In the case of Carly and Scott, that assumption would be spot on!

But, wait. It gets better!

Photo booths are always a very welcome addition at a wedding reception. What could possibly be more fun? A photo booth inside a vintage VW bus, that’s what!

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. There are a lot of loved-filled photos of the ceremony, and juicy detail shots that beg to be explored.

Carly and Scott chose to host both their ceremony and reception at Heritage Museums and Gardens, a unique Cape Cod wedding venue in Sandwich. They also chose to get married in what is perhaps one of the most gorgeous times of the year at the venue: June, when thousands and thousands of rhododendrons are bursting with blooms.

For the ceremony, white garden chairs were perfectly positioned to frame the Flume Fountain, which would serve as a stunning backdrop as Scott and Carly exchanged their vows. Fragrant nosegays of white roses and eucalyptus dotted the aisle. A hand-painted sign advising to “choose a seat, not a side” greeted guests.

The couple opted to forgo a “first look” ceremony, so the first time Scott saw his gorgeous bride was as she came down the aisle of grass in a lace, sheath-style gown with a plunging neckline.

Once Carly’s train was arranged just so by one of her maids, it was time to say “I do.” As husband and wife came back down the aisle, guests showered them with petite flower buds — such a sweet idea for a garden wedding!

As guests began to make their way up to the terrace in front of the Round Barn, where the cocktail reception was held, the wedding party and their families remained at the Flume Fountain. Photographer Kelly Cronin Bicknell quickly captured the couple and their closest friends and family in a series of relaxed portraits. When the bride cried tears of happiness, the groom was ready with a handkerchief. Love!

With portraits completed, Scott and Carly joined the party on the terrace for passed hors d’oeuvres and shucked-to-order Cape Cod oysters and littlenecks.

Under a soaring sailcloth tent on the adjacent lawn were a mix of linen-clad round tables and long, farmhouse-style tables. Vintage-style stemware and floral arrangements of white roses mixed with greens gave the space a distinctive Downton Abbey-esque appeal.

After listening to heartfelt speeches that brought both tears and laughter – perfect! – the couple enjoyed their first dance as Mr. & Mrs. just as the afternoon slipped into evening.

Following dinner and the cake-cutting ceremony, it was time to put that DJ booth into action. The tunes were cranking as Carly and Scott and their friends and family danced the night way. Should anyone’s energy level start to flag from having way too much fun on the dancefloor, an assortment of “Vintage Pie Jars” was at the ready.

So sweet . . . in absolutely every way.
